Amina’s Journey
Starting Point: Amina completed her secondary education in Malindi but lacked access to practical digital tools or professional networks, leaving her uncertain about how to start earning independently.
Support Received: Through Guild’s Skills & Employability programme, she participated in hands-on digital literacy and workplace skills workshops, receiving guidance on computer navigation and online freelancing basics.
What Changed: Amina built the technical confidence needed to navigate digital workspaces and began taking on small graphic and data entry tasks for local businesses.
Next Steps: She plans to deepen her technical training and establish a small independent digital service bureau to support local entrepreneurs in her community.
David’s Path
Starting Point: As a quiet young adult in his community, David struggled with public speaking and felt he had no platform or guidance to develop leadership capabilities.
Support Received: David joined the Guild Mentorship & Leadership initiative, where he was connected with a local mentor and participated in youth leadership circles focused on confidence building and structured decision-making.
What Changed: Through regular mentorship sessions and peer collaboration, David developed strong communication skills and took the initiative to organize a youth-led peer study group in his neighborhood.
Next Steps: He is currently stepping up as a youth coordinator within community outreach programs to help mentor younger students entering the education support track.
Brian’s Path
Starting Point: Brian had practical artisan skills and a strong entrepreneurial drive, but lacked basic financial capability knowledge and structured pathways to scale his small trade.
Support Received: Through the Guild Enterprise & Livelihoods pillar, Brian accessed micro-enterprise training and financial literacy workshops designed to strengthen business management and savings habits.
What Changed: He successfully reorganized his daily business operations, separated personal and business finances, and improved his local service marketing approach.
Next Steps: Brian aims to expand his workshop space, take on an apprentice from the local skills development cohort, and build long-term economic resilience for his family.
